Cosmetic Injectables

Cosmetic injectables are substances injected into the face or body to alter their appearance. Most injectables reduce the look of lines and wrinkles, skin damage, and signs of aging in the face. They often work by altering and smoothing the contours of the face or body or adding volume.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are gel-like, biocompatible substances injected below the skin’s surface. The additional volume of the fillers smooths out fine lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers restore volume and improve skin tone for a fresher look. They can also enhance and highlight areas such as the cheekbones by plumping them and firming your skin.

Many dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that keeps the skin hydrated and lubricated. Some may also contain collagen, another natural component of the body, to assist in tissue repair and support new cell generation. The ingredients in dermal fillers are naturally found in the human body. No recovery time is required after treatment and very little risk of side effects. Dermal fillers are an excellent alternative to more invasive anti-aging procedures.

You can use dermal fillers in various parts of your face for targeted results. Fillers can plump up thin lips, add fullness to your cheeks, eliminate laugh lines, and more. Our aestheticians can help you determine where dermal filler injections will be most effective for your aesthetic goals. Juvéderm, Radiesse, Restylane, and Perlane are among the most popular dermal fillers.

Benefits of Dermal Fillers

  • Increased under-eye volume
  • Fuller, more defined cheeks
  • Plumper, fuller lips
  • Stronger jawline
  • More prominent cheekbones
  • Increased collagen production

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators such as BOTOX Cosmetic use a neurotoxin to temporarily paralyze or relax certain facial muscles that are frequently used for frowning, laughing, and squinting. Because these muscles are used so often, you develop wrinkles and fine lines in these areas first. When injected with a neuromodulator, the nerve signals to the brain are blocked, keeping these muscles relaxed.

The effect of neuromodulator injections usually lasts 3-4 months. However, with time and repeated treatments, the effectiveness tends to last longer, providing long-lasting results. BOTOX® Cosmetic is by far the best-known neuromodulator, but other brands, such as Dysport and Xeomin, are also neuromodulators based on the botulism neurotoxin. Each brand has its advantages and disadvantages.

Benefits of Neuromodulators

  • Reduced lines and wrinkles around the eyes
  • Smoother, tighter skin
  • Reduced marionette lines (wrinkles around the mouth)
  • Smoothing of frown lines and forehead creases
  • Prevention of some age-related changes

Kybella

Kybella is a unique injectable that is neither a dermal filler nor a neuromodulator. It is an FDA-approved injectable treatment to destroy fat cells beneath the chin. Kybella improves the look of your profile by targeting and destroying fat cells so the body can flush them away. If you feel that your double chin makes you look heavier or older than you are, Kybella may help without having to undergo surgery. Most individuals get between two and six injections spaced a month apart. It can take up to six months after the final injection for the full effect to be seen.
